  1. was that an insult because these days it's hard to tell anymore

I think he meant it as one because the bee in his bonnet was that the admins were banning people like him and keeping only the folk they liked (hence the implications about "suck ups" etc.)

    He was so edgy

When someone earlier was talking about folk in the old days crossing a line beyond banter, he was definitely one.

  2. Oh my god blast from the past

    Just a bit!

Remember when he went batshit and started a movement/webpage that was anti-board. I just remember loads of incoherent rambling about "you MUST lick ass!"

It's weird cos I never really had any issues with him but he went from being alright with me to basically loathing me over night *shrug*

  3. These people aren't paid. If the "privilege" of administrating and moderating a site full of shitheads also required them to never share their own thoughts and never be wrong, this board would have been dead over a decade ago.

Sometimes it was really hard restraining yourself from telling someone to drop dead when they got personal tbh.

Add that weirdo who had a personal vendetta against me so kept making posts speculating on my sex life and the conspiracy nut who PMed me saying he knew where I lived and would rape and kill me (because I deleted his bullshit) yeah... it's pretty thankless at times.

  4. overwhelmingly... to the point where I might've screamed 'shut the fuck up' at people talkin through the piano solo... oops

I hate people talking through gigs AT ALL so fuck those people anyway but that's one of the best bits of many Muse tracks, why the eff wouldn't you listen to it?

(And no matter how many times I've seen one particular song, even the ones I'm bored of, I don't talk through them. If I'm that fed up it's a perfect gap for a pee break anyway.)

  5. Maybe his hands are tied in some way? I've never thought bands shouldn't listen to fans at all but it's got to be tiring for him getting this all the time - and I am thinking of when one of them apparently said a few years ago that they don't read this place because "they hate us" so after that I tried to imagine how I would feel - and probably not nice.

And ultimately if people didn't buy tickets they'd maybe reassess what they need to do. But that's never going to happen because there's evidently enough fans who are willing to put up with it or enough fans who would class Starlight as a song they want to hear every single time. I think we forget in all this that some of the songs we don't like as much are probably (a lot of) someone's favourite. For example, I was never keen on Citizen Erased but had to deal with people whining about not getting that one for years even though I personally was sick of it :p

  6. Did you mean Spiral Static or Con-Science? The former has been played live at least.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure people were complaining when they "only" got Dead Star as biggest rarity a while back. Or Citizen Erased is a good example.

Con-Science sorry if that wasn't clear. I'm not sure if I remember personally hearing Spiral Static but I know it has been played.

If I have heard Spiral Static I'm annoyed I can't remember cos I quite like that one  Oh well!

  7. Say they do start playing idk Spiral Static every few gigs. How long before someone starts moaning "that's great but I really want to hear Con-Science instead" - btw I looked it up and that one has never actually been played live at least not in the era when anyone cared enough to record it was played. Even with my 16 years in fandom I learned something today! Anyway, that says to me it's unlikely to ever be played. Or how about some gigs get Spiral Static but your gig gets Futurism but you like Spiral Static more. It's happened to me...songs I like have been played at gigs I wasn't at but equally I've heard stuff other people didn't necessarily get.

I feel like Muse can't actually win this one with everyone unless they do end up doing a one-off tour of request gigs. And even then I reckon there'd still be complaints if they had to bin off one or two because they're out of practice or don't really want to play that one for whatever reason.

Also if it's a small venue how many people are going to do what a few did last time and moan that "casuals" got all the tickets. How do you decide who is worthy? I mean, I know for that one you had to be signed up to the website but there's accounts on there that have been inactive for years but if they got the email they were entitled to try for tickets. I just think it's another way to potentially bring out the pettiness among some folk.

  8. Extra thoughts without explanations:

Hardcore fans are a small minority of crowds.

They're also an important minority of crowds.

The hits are going to be played. Muse are a hits band.

If you don't like a large number of known staples their concert might not be for you.

You are not owed a good setlist. That's too arbitrary to compromise.

You are owed a good concert overall. Any band should play every show like it's their last.

Performances, more universally, have been agreed to be too stale.

They don't read the board. Their true interaction has only been a few fan small conversations.

The only setlist that really matters is the one you see yourself.

    It's just a band.

I think this is the point that needs highlighting the most!

I mean, we're leading pretty comfortable lives if our biggest complaint is a band we like aren't doing as well as we think they did a few years ago.

Like I said, I get disappointment if you don't see them often but if you're the sort of person I've seen on Twitter and Instagram/etc who can clearly afford to follow them around everywhere and see them in several European countries then you're pretty well off and if that's such a waste of money then...stop doing it?

  9. "How dare a consumer express their dissatisfaction with a product I no longer buy."

Get lost. Muse don't owe you anything. If you're that annoyed, stop buying the product.

And I'm allowed to have an opinion considering I didn't say I'm never seeing them again. In my opinion some of you are acting like entitled little shites.

  10. I haven't seen them since 2009 because they cancelled three gigs in a row that I had tickets for :awesome:

Not gonna pay for another ticket unless they somehow manage to make an amazing album, which isn't likely.

I've not seen them since 2009 either. Partly because for me The 2nd Law was a bit pish but mostly down to I cba getting up early/wasting time at work fighting for tickets anymore. I've not really got the energy!

But I did think about going on this tour and would've gladly taken tickets off someone's hands if set lists are a problem. I've saw them like 30 times over nearly 10 years so have heard most songs from the first five albums and some b sides at least once. I'm pretty good.

I also have a friend who hasn't been able to see them for a few years for various reasons and she's a bit annoyed about people complaining too.

  11. If you see the once and that's because it costs you a lot I think then you maybe are excused in terms of feeling a little disappointed.

But every year there's people complaining who say they're done but buy tickets for five plus gigs (or in some cases someone else buys for them) on the next tour and it's like aye right...you're so mad at set lists you're not going to see them again. I believe you...

  12. Tbh I'm starting to feel like people can always show their displeasure by NOT going to see them 12 times a tour regardless of complaining the previous 12 times the year before...

(I know some of you have stopped btw before anyone says.)

  13. Yeah, voice problems come and go. But the smallest thing can affect your voice for years, if you don't fix the underlying problem.

I'm not a professional singer (in the shower is my limit lolz) but you've worried me now because years ago I lost my voice at a gig...then lost it again at a rugby match a couple of years later and sometimes when I sing or shout I can feel this crackling sensation in my throat :\

  14. When I was younger I thought nothing of going to a foreign country (usually the Parisian dates in France or another foreign festival) to see Muse so travelling within the UK was a drop in the ocean!

But I had more free time because I wasn't working full time. I also feel like I could afford to use more of my money on gigs even though I'm actually more well off these days. If I didn't think the ticket price was a bit much I'd be considering Glasgow because I live there but I don't have enough time/annual leave if my choice was to go to Manchester instead for example.

So I understand that it sucks but we're actually quite lucky that in the UK everything is fairly accessible from everywhere else if you're really determined - especially if you're in England. My husband grew up near Inverness so you can imagine how many big bands played up there regularly...
