  1. Well done! Also you're so lucky to be in San Fran where it's overflowing with wildlife. It is very difficult to make money from your work, especially when entry level dslr etc are so much more accessible to own and people think that because you take photos on an expensive camera you don't need the skills of an actual experienced photographer. So photographers aren't valued for their work. I'm so impressed with your hummingbird shots, they're such speedy little things I only got 1 single shot when I was on holiday before they just disappear.
  2. I thought the 6d was meant to be better for noise when shooting indoors? Anyway I want to have the dslr vs mirrorless debate. Bob (crazybob that is) is always going on about going fuji mirrorless and I've noticed a lot of photographers I knew back in the day are all switching to mirrorless sensor systems mainly due to size and portability. I just found it really interesting that seems to be the trend. I'm really happy finally going full frame but I do feel like getting a good mirrorless for general snapping and stuff. People's thoughts?
  3. Haha, this is true, I do find a bit of a noise at the higher end of things can be easily softened up in Lightroom.
  4. More 6D goodness with 50mm f1.4 lens action. Softtt soffttt mmm bokeh goodness. I also need to learn how to make my own set of actions for creating this instagram filtery effect.
  5. Whoa, amazing. 6d is impressive bit of kit. Out of interest how do you find the noise levels?
  6. Mm nice selection of lenses. Yeah I'm aware of af micro adjustments though not tried to tweak them. I need somewhere with consistent lighting. I have the 17-40mm f4 and found it's not as crispy or as satisfying as the 50mm f1.4
  7. Snap What lenses are you using with it? How do you find the AF detection and AV mode? I've starting shooting in manual now because I think the AV auto shutter ends up a little too slow for me even with auto iso.
  8. I got a lc-a instant back and I stopped using it so much because yeah it's cool but they're bloody expensive to run. I think if the film wasn't so pricey then I would be more inclined to have an instant camera.
  9. Will contract include model release? Aka to allow you to use images of them for promo stuff like website and net and stuffs? My only advice would be get a list of portrait shots etc that are wanted and also practice beforehand oh and get to know the venue well so you can get some ideas.
  10. I'm curious to see some of your Japan shots in full colour, only because to me Japan is such a beautiful, colourful place full of nature and tranquillity. But this doesn't come across in the images because they're generally desaturated.
  11. Love love love. I wish I could be anywhere as good as that. The style is right up my street, kind of surreal but sort of real
  12. Lightroom is amazing. Fantastic for organisation and processing images. I'm just annoyed cause I'm still on XP I can't upgrade to the latest version. Also blaming Bob that I just bought a new camera.
  13. Yay yay good choice. Regarding film, if you don't have a built in light meter then get one. But I find I love shooting in film, the quality and feel of film has its own character compared to digital that can be quite sterile at times.
  14. Ah I find the sample pictures show that it's a nice effect but the stuff in focus isn't crispy enough. It also reminds me of lens baby stuff. But again I'm put off by lens baby because it's not sharp enough in the right spots.
  15. Haha aww. When both music and photography are quite passionate topics for people who care about them. In response to the flash usage thing Bob was going on about. I don't see using flash as a sign of lacking in skill and ability. I think it takes just as amount skill to use flash well than not using flash. That's something I wished I could get tuition on. So I think not using flash in a gig scenario is more about it being more pleasant for the band/artist/whatever.
  16. All worlds are colliding! It's a good discussion mind. Meaty
  17. Shooting lots while you're travelling etc is fine I think. If you were going to build a portfolio or small selection that's when you have to be picky.
  18. But that's what sets are for! I like chronological ordering anyway. Saying that not used Flickr properly in ages boo.
  19. I've never saw the point of them - what have they done with collections?
  20. Really like this, nice portrait shot, very natural relaxed feel to it. Sorry to hear that about your dad.
  21. I heard about this a bit too late really, but I'm intrigued by this len's effect that they're intending to recreate. http://www.lomography.com/magazine/news/2013/08/22/petzval-update-new-photos-and-a-belgrade-summer-video-for-your-viewing-pleasure
