  1. The 'will of the people' line just rubs me the wrong way. Super annoying and way too similar to the beautiful people. Those other three songs aren't as annoying to me.
  2. Matt was on the subreddit (and got banned lol). If you're curious on some of his takes on politics that inspired the album's lyrics. https://www.reddit.com/r/Muse/comments/v6b2pn/summary_of_uwillthehacker2022_activity_on_rmuse/
  3. WOTP is my new worst Muse song. I hate everything about it. At least KOBK sounds promising.
  4. I've given you a very positive post over in the 'rediscovered the awesomeness of' thread, claudia
  5. Been listening to a lot of Muse the last few days, after not listening to them so much for the last 3 or 4 years. Some thoughts I've had: United States of Eurasia is one of the weirdest and most unique songs they've done. The Chopin outro is really beautiful. I've been a bit too harsh on Drones. It's still my least fav album of theirs but even the bad songs have redeeming qualities. I like the guitars and synths in the Mercy pre-choruses even though the rest of the song is quite tedious to me. The Psycho riff is still cool even though many aspects of that song bother me. Starlight is still a great pop song. Iirc it's the first song of theirs I heard as a kid, and despite how overplayed it was and its reputation as a lull at their live gigs it's a beautiful and catchy song. Resistance as well. Matt's voice in the "Take us away from here, protect us from further harm, resistance" gives me chills. Follow Me is much better than I remember. It's very much a product of the early 2010s EDM trend but the vocal melodies are good, the synth arpeggios are tight, and it makes me nostalgic for that time. Overall their music is often extremely dramatic, bombastic, and over the top which isn't usually my taste, but they somehow pull it off. It's crazy to me that Survival was the official London 2012 theme (I mean it's lyrics include I am prepared / to stay alive / I won't forgive / vengeance is mine). But they also really know when to have restraint and be more subtle, at least in the first 5 albums (SFA, Shine acoustic, Blackout, Unintended, Exo 3, Screenager). I thought I had mostly moved on from Muse as my favourite band, but they're still up there and probably always will be, and I can't wait to see them live someday.
  6. The video (I assume the single version) on YT is 3:42 but the version on spotify (and I assume other streaming platforms) is 4:10. To be fair, two of them are raising kids, and I'm no parent but I can imagine that was not easy in 2020 and 2021. I assume they were touring most of 2019? I don't really blame them for not being productive during the last couple years. Matt also mentioned in that interview how the Get Back documentary inspired them to potentially record more and craft albums, as Hat said. I do wonder what they plan to do between now and August though.
  7. The optimal album length for me is between like 32 and 45 minutes. Anything longer than that is almost guaranteed to have some filler. So I'm really not fussed with a more streamlined Muse album, assuming all the songs are decent. What's the closest thing we have so far to compare a Muse piano ballad to an Adele piano song?
  8. Longer version of Compliance is even better. The falsetto is a nice little addition.
  9. Is it that lazy though? Most of their early albums have 11 songs. And they wouldn't release longer or less standard structure songs as the two first singles. Regarding the post about the album's themes, I dig it. It's how most of us feel. And obviously the Ukraine war couldn't have inspired the lyrics but I assume they added it into the post as another example of how unstable the world is right now.
  10. That's probably the best music video of Muse's I've ever watched. The synth solo is dope, the verses and chorus didn't hit me immediately but they grew on me as the song went on. Overall I'm pretty happy.
  11. I wonder if this pattern on the ground a nod to TR. I guess lyrically it is kinda consistent with TR and Drones
  12. I missed the vimeo but hopefully another link will pop up. Really disappointed to hear we might have a drones 2.0 though, but not surprised
  13. so there's no song called The Great Reset, and the whole debate about Matt potentially making this a covid conspiracy album was all unfounded? So let's not get too upset about him potentially rhyming Verona with corona. TBH it would be weird for Muse not to explore lyrically themes related to the shitshow of the last two years. Knowing Matt's poor lyrics (still don't know how 'the final solution' made it onto a single) it probably will be a bit cringey in places, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt till we actually hear any more tracks. I guess we'll find out when Compliance drops.
  14. We are fucking fucked has me most excited. Hoping it'll be a fun KOC-type closer, or some kind of early-Muse era Yes Please-style song.
  15. huh, weird that the pics are different in here than in the twitter link. thanks.
  16. I can't see much on the first 3 but the last looks like the same symbol thing we saw before right?
  17. Maybe The Will of the People is the album title? Or the next single. Interesting video.
  18. they really are going all in reminding us every second day on their social media that this song exists, aren't they
