  1. As we eagerly await LP9 news, perhaps some of you would enjoy indulging me with some Muse chatter. For instance, I ma already hard at work planning my next Muse show and plan to make it worth the wait. My plan is to, at the very least, get GA or high dollar seats but it's very likely that I'm going to dish out the extra $$ to get EE tickets. As awesome as it would be to be on the rail, or close to it, I think it might be asking a lot of my wife to stand in an arena for hours before the band actually takes the stage. With seats, our spot would be reserved, at least. Does anyone have experience or, dare I ask, pictures from the first 15 rows? If so, how would you rate it?
  2. Between this and the band announcing a live date next year, this is the most normal I've felt in over a year.
  3. Matt, if youre reading this, I'm not usually one to give artists pointers on their art but I have a few ideas for the new record: 1. Let us listen to it 2.
  4. Imagine Matt hints at the next album being a return to their roots only for it to be an otherwise totally modern Muse record but Matt is breathing into the mic again. Would be a real power move tbh
  5. Really hoping to snag a copy of this and the Jaded Hearts album that's dropping in June. Haven't had very good luck with RSD in the past.
  6. It seems like Matt has a tradition of posting a back-in-the-studio selfie to kick things off, which we may or may not have gotten with him fiddling on the piano. I'm holding out hope for an early 2022 release, to strike the perfect balance between optimistic and realistic.
  7. One can only speculate and let me assure you, my imagination is running absolutely wild and unrestrained...
  8. I awaken from my almost 3 year hibernation (hope I didn't miss anything important) after hearing the only two words that can give me life: "New Muse". I missed these boards and look forward to seeing them come alive again, hopefully sooner rather than later. I know this interview is close to a year old but Matt mentioned a desired timeline of a new album at the end of 2021 and touring in 2022. I feel like this might be a bit optimistic, considering how chaotic last year was but, by golly, a guy can dream, can't he? https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/muse-matt-bellamy-interview-coronavirus-quarantine-999208/
  9. Whoa! Totally missed that Matt was planning on actually using Buckley's Tele on the next album! (I have an aching feeling that the Pitchfork's of the world aren't going to take too kindly to this but ya boy is a-ok with it!) While I'm absolutely gutted by the idea of having to wait until 2022 for a new album but for whatever reason, this is really exciting to me. I would be very cool with the boys looking to Buckley for influence again!
  10. Also isn't actually my fav album so it wouldn't break my heart to not get a full album setlist and would be more than happy with a more standard set list with a few Abso rarities sprinkled in. (TBH, I'd prefer this in general as I'm actually not a huge fan of only getting one era at a gig.) But if that's the direction they're taking for the next album, count me as cautiously optimistic as it seems like a very fresh approach, at least as long as I've been a fan. I can't quite put my finger on WHAT I want from the next album but I like the idea of them taking a step back to try to tap into an older mindset while moving forward.
  11. You may be right, but may I suggest a compromise in the form of an Absolution setlist that's shuffled up a bit? 😁 Speaking as someone who would really like to see TSP, Endlessly, and FAWY live... As far as "going back to square one", I would be interested in knowing what Matt means may this. As with anything Matt, what he says and what he means aren't always the same things. I personally hope it's more in terms with songwriting and composition of the album moreso than more distorted guitar. Drones was a stripped back album but I would argue that it's fairly disparate in style from the earlier albums.
  12. I agree. While Drones is my least favorite of later-era Muse, Simulation Theory feels almost like a spiritual sequel to BH&R. I think if it had one or two additional stronger songs and maybe excluded a Dig Down or a GUAF it would have been a much stronger entry. It's a hard line to walk and I don't fault them for it.
  13. I definitely like this. As much as I'm in the "more guitar" camp, I think they have a knack for pop as well. I think there are some interesting and new "dance rock" directions they could take this, whether it be lo-fi/shoegaze (a la Tame Impala) or a more hiphop influenced production style (a la Run The Jewels). IMO it would be cool to see them get an out of left field producer like Josh Homme or El-P. Another idea I heard was to turn some of their D+B jams into songs, which could be cool. I would just prefer they be fleshed out a little more than Psycho was.
  14. I know I've been the guy advocating for a longer hiatus for creative purposes but man this quarantine has me feeling pretty impatient and believing we're just over a year away from a new album was a little glimmer of hope. Still, hopefully this allows some breathing room for a creative spark! What are some new sounds/genres that everyone would like to hear on the next record?
  15. "Quarantine" sounds like it would make for a good mid-late album track, imo. I could also see Matt weaving themes of 'social distancing' into an album in a characteristically on the nose criticism of how technology has replaced real communication. I'll give Matt a little more credit than that, though. He's rarely THAT obvious!
  16. I do agree with this. They seem to find the necessary inspiration they need pretty quickly. (And just to reiterate: I am perfectly happy with new Muse sooner than later.) With that said, they're a very busy band and have been for most of their career. Taking a longer hiatus would be unprecedented and may yield unpredictable results. I don't think it would be a bad idea, personally. Giving themselves some breathing room, imo, would allow them more time to flesh out ideas, styles, and production. This is purely speculative, but I think we could see something really new and interesting. Keeping with the tradition of being Mr. Unpopular Opinion (seriously guys, Big Freeze is SO good!), I would like to go on record as saying that I want Muse to do their own equivalent of "Tranquility Base Casino + Hotel". I don't know what that would mean in the world of Muse but I'm thinking fewer singles and a full album of The Void, Exogenesis Symphony, Hoodoo, etc.
  17. I'm comfortable with silence. For now. I might be a little more antsy by the end of the year. But just knowing that they might be in studio by the end of the year is just enough to keep me going. That first in-studio Instagram post always gets my little heart going!
  18. Emotionally and selfishly, I hope they adhere to the familiar 3-year schedule because I want new music and tour. But I've recently been thinking it would be cool if they pulled a Strokes and took a 7 year break and then return with a comeback album, maybe even double LP. But... maybe for LP10. Edit: With that said, I'm very excited about this thread; I need an outlet to talk about Muse.
  19. I’m going to cross my fingers that Matt’s definition of “for a while” means “this year”. Because if there’s no UK Origin your, then the odds of a US tour go from slim to none.
  20. Living in North Carolina, I'm in a similar boat. If I'm not mistaken, T2L was the last time we got a proper 2nd US leg. After the Drones tour, we got the amphitheater tour in 2017 which was great but not quite the same thing. They toured for SL for a good while so I understand they probably need a break but it kills me to think that I might have to wait a few years to see them again.
  21. Man, I’m right there with you! I’d give a kidney for them to hit NA again this year or next but it seems like all signs are pointing to the tour wrapping up this fall. I would love to be proven wrong though!
  22. Commenter under latest Insta post asked if they were planning to come to Argentina and Muse replied with "News next week". Sounds like good news for our friends in South America. I imagine it'll just be a handful of dates, as has been the trend for this tour. But, were I a fool who too often got his hopes up, I might ponder whether a few more US dates might be in our future. Probably not, but as always, a man can dream...
  23. Yeah, it makes me sad to think they may be entering the early stages of becoming a dad rock band. I really want to believe that they have at least one more real hit left in them. This isn’t to say that it’s all about making hits and getting YouTube views, but I believe there’s way to be business smart and find a way for them to really study what works in today’s music climate and apply it to themselves in some way. I think Propaganda is a shining example of this; I was as terrified as anyone else when I heard Timbaland was producing but imo it worked wonders. P.S. Anyone seen this? Dom mentions coming up with ideas for the next album (in the studio?) as early as next year. Is this a normal pace for them? I mean, I guess it is. Two years after Drones we got Dig Down. [Edited for spelling]
  24. Fair point. I’ve actually yet to get actual decent tix to a Muse show so I haven’t ever really had to worry about queuing. Plus I think I’m just getting old and like being outside in a lawn chair. With that said, I imagine there ought to be some incentive for the band to do these tours. With the stripped back production of these shows, they’re likely saving money. But I’m the least business savvy fella on these here boards so who knows.
